Tantei Gakuen Q Live Action

Posted on April 22, 2008
I love this series.

Synopsis

A story about a class of genius students of Dan Detective School. Together, they solve crimes that are happening around. Things began to be of interest when they have learned that a group is behind all the murders happening - Pluto.

Members of Class Q:

Kyuu Renjo (Kamiki Ryunosuke) - can be considered the leader of Class Q. A bright and optimistic boy. He's a person with a golden heart. Treasures his friend deeply.

Megumi Minami (Shida Mirai) - the only girl in the class. She has a photographic memory, allowing her to memorize something instantly, however with this great talent she also bears photographic scenes of unfortunate events.

Ryuu Amakusa (Yamada Ryosuke) - A boy genius. He has a cold and mysterious personality but when he had met Class Q, he began to realize the value of friendship. But he has a dark background, it was later revealed in the show that he is related to Pluto.

Kazuma Narusawa (Wakaba Katsumi) - a rich, well known computer games programmer. Better to say a prodigy in this field. He often operates with his laptop.

Kintaro Toyama (Kaname Jun) - the eldest member of class Q. He's the strongest among them.

My Review

I've enjoyed watching this. This is the first series that I've watched on a streaming site. haha. One thing that attracted me is the mystery behind who the suspect is in every episode. I'll admit the plot of some of the cases isn't that great as that of Detective Conan's but it's fairly exciting. And I've guess some of the murderers. HAHA. But the cases are pretty easy, it's obvious.

I love class Q. All of them are good. The actors/actress have acted well. But I am really into Ryuu (Yamada), I don't know if it's his personality or because Yamada's the one acting but he's my favorite. When he was s**b***, I've cried.

Moreover, I like how Kyuu values friendship. Kyuu's selfless, his trust in Ryuu till the end is unbelievable. Their friendship is strong, and from that one can learn a lot. I'll surely miss watching this, I'd still want to see the Kyuu-Megu-Ryuu Love Triangle. ^^

Here's an excerpt of one of my fav. parts (involving Kyuu-Megu-Ryuu):

Ryuu have just gotten out from the hospital, Megu was feeding him, this was the scene when Kyuu, Kinta and Kazuma arrived.

Megu: Here, say aahh
Kinta: Hey, Hey, Since when did you two start having that kind of relationship?
Kyu: Ah, t-that kind of relationship?
Ryuu: Kinta, Kinta it's a misunderstanding, misunderstanding!
Kazuma: To think that Ryuu and Megu were going out.. You got me there.
Kyuu: Going out.. (shocked expression)
Megu: Ryuu, since it came to this, do you want me to announce that we're dating?Kyuu:Dating...
Ryuu: If you don't stop, I'll get mad.
Megu: Ryuu, you're no fun. He's still in pain, so I was just helping him
Kinta: Oh, that's how it is, huh?
Kazuma: I almost doubted Ryuu's taste.
Megu: Hey Kazuma, what do you mean by that?
Kazuma: Ah, nothing.

Nodame Cantabile SP

Posted on April 19, 2008

I couldn't say more since I think I've praised the series more than enough (just looked through my reviews), but the special is more exceptional. A good closure as I would say.

Synopsis

Nodame and Chiaki goes to Paris! The first part focuses on Chiaki (Tamaki Hiroshi) auditioning for a Conducting Competition. Will he be able to win?

The second part then shows Nodame (Ueno Juri) struggling to live through the Music Academy (in Paris) while learning to improve her piano skills. She will be then asked to perform her first ever recital. Aside from this, will Chiaki and Nodame's relationship grow?

My Review

This would be short, I promise. LOL. This SP is so satisfying. I totally love it. It's wicked. Yeah, most of the parts are exciting especially when Chiaki was at the Conducting Competition. And as always this is so funny. This never fails to make me laugh.
And I think I'm loving Ueno Juri(Nodame). She's great. I'm so fascinated by her, by her acting. I'm a fan of her. And I think this is the first series that I've truly liked the lead female more than the lead male. She's brilliant. I'm always looking forward to see her on screen.

And about the ending, it's perfect. No more no less. Nodame Cantabile is good, very good. :D I wouldn't give spoilers, but i'll share some SC's.

Heavenly Forest

Posted on April 18, 2008

So I said I won't watch a drama show (in this case a movie). Yet, I've watched this. And again there are tears falling from my eyes. Have watched this because of a recommendation from a friend (thanks sis cindy).

I'm too lazy to make a synopsis so I'll just say it plainly. The story revolves around Makoto (Tamaki Hiroshi) and Shizuru (Aoi Miyuki), both have first met during college. Shizuru isn't your average girl she's perhaps a weirdo while Makoto isn't that cool too, he's so shy. Makoto's a photographer and he introduced this to Shizuru. Things began to get complicated when Makoto was drawn to a group of "cool people" which includes his crush Miyuki. So I'll stop here.

My Review

The story's beautiful. And as expected it has "that" ending, I thought I wouldn't cry but I did. At first, I wasn't that interested in watching but as I continued, things began to get pretty good.

One thing I've noticed, Tamaki looks like Toma-kun in here, I don't know but everytime I see him I remember Toma. But I prefer Tamaki as Chiaki (Nodame) than Makoto.

I'm a little frustrated in this film because I feel that Shizuru's so pitiful, I know she's happy at how things ended but I would have liked it more if she and Makoto have their "moment". The ending's great, the part where in Makoto is in the gallery and the time where in he sees the "photograph", ahh and the words ~ that was sweet. I can't talk more. This movie's nice.

Tantei Gakuen Q Live Action Special

Posted on April 17, 2008

I'm happy. :D At long last I've found something interesting to watch. I like Detective Stories. This reminds me of Detective Conan (which is my favorite anime).

Synopsis

The Special comes first before the series.

The story started with Kyuu Renjo(Ryunosuke Kamiki). Kyuu dreams to be a detective and so he decided to enroll in Dan's Detective School. The special focuses on how Kyuu, together with his to-be friends (Megumi, Ryuu, Kazuma and Kinta), will be able to pass the examinations to enter DDS.

My Review

This special's good. I've thouroughly enjoyed watching this, I'm such a fan of detective stories (I've already mentioned it, haha). There's no dull moment. Plus the characters are all adorable.

I especially like Ryuu(Yamada Ryosuke), waaa his character is so loveable, the mysterious and silent type, and Yamada's so cute!!! He's a cutie. If only he isn't younger than me(he's only 14), gyaaaaa ~ I think I'm already a fan of his. Kyuu's cute also, his character's funny and his mind is unbelievable. And I know this series is about kids, but well I love to see Ryuu - Megumi - Kyuu! Yey, hope it will develop into a love triangle. And the last scene where in Ryuu accepted Megu's invitation (originally intended for Kyuu), waa I think I'll faint, that was so sweet.

And because of watching the special, I'll watch the series soon, I think I'll watch it now. I'm looking forward to the cases. :D

Romantic Princess

Posted on April 16, 2008

Yey, have finished this at long last. The story's pretty okay, I was expecting more but well it's okay.

Synopsis

Xiao Mai (Angela Zhang) has lived a normal life, living with her parents, while at the same time dreaming to become rich. One day, she was shocked to learn that she was the lost granddaughter of Huangfu Xiong, the richest man in Asia. How will she adopt to the life of the rich? Will she be able to find true love.

Here's the story like Cinderella, the term "from rags to riches" propery suits this drama. Also included in the cast are Wu Zun and Calvin Chen of Fahrenheit.

My Review

I've known of this since last year, but I only have the chance to watch it now, that was I think October when I've watched its first episode, and when I've seen the opening theme, I was screaming my heart out, darn Chun's so hot, he's like a girl's Prince Charming.
The story's good, hmm, but not that great. Certainly everytime Chun is there it makes a girl go crazy, sobrang kinikilig na ang mga tao. However, I'm not really in for that part. The story's pretty cheesy, I could have tolerated it but then there's too much romantic parts and kissing scenes. I think it just spoils everything, I have appreciated it during the first few episodes but then the more that I see it, I just shrugged my shoulder and cover my eyes, I'm not a fan of mushy series. Hey, for Chun fans out there, don't get angry with me, we all have our own opinions, I'm also a fan of his.

About Chun, haaay, what more can I say? His mere presence is enough to attract attention, but acting wise I think he needs improvement, they should give him more challenging roles. I think I'm liking Calvin's character more. I don't know, at first I didn't even have to think of him but as the story develops, Cai's like one's ideal guy, too bad the story doesn't involved him falling inlove with Xiao Mai.
Enough of my rant, the series so funny, haha. I especially like Sen Chuan and Xiao Mai's grandfather and also Lin. wahaha. They give life to the story. To end this, I'm not discouraging you to watch this, you should try it, hmmm, maybe I'm just not in the mood for over romantic series. hehe. Try it for yourself and then tell me what you think of it. And by the way, the ending's sort of lacking.

One Litre of Tears

Posted on April 13, 2008
I..............................can't..........................think properly............................

My head aches.......................My eyes hurt............................I feel I'm going to be sick........I'm crying non stop.

Arggh, these are just some of the effects of this series on me. I have been warned before watching this that this isn't just a drama, but how can I let such a good drama pass? And this is the first Ryo-drama that I've watched.

Okay, so everybody's right, the title "One Litre of Tears" is such an understatement, I feel that I've cried buckets because of this.

Synopsis

Aya Ikeuchi (Erika Sawijiri) is your normal 15-year old girl, however lately "things" have been happening to her. She keeps on falling down, and isn't able to walk properly. It was then found out that Aya's suffering from a disease called Spinocerebellar Degeneration- a disease where in it leaves the victim unable to speak, walk, eat, etc. How will Aya and everyone around her cope up with this?

What's even more heart breaking about this, is the story's based on the real life struggles of Aya. The story/script is based on the Diary that she has written until the time that she can't even write. The book, entitled "One Litre of Tears" has sold a lot of copies in Japan and elsewhere (I think).

My Review/Reasons to Watch this:

1. The story's great (though it's so sad), I'm sure all of those who have watched it has been touched on Aya's struggle.

2. You'll definitely cry buckets of tears. OMG, when I've first watch its first episode, I've already cried, actually I've cried at all episodes, and I'm still in a shock now.

3. You'll learn to appreciate the value of "living", what I mean is waking up in the morning is a lot to be thankful for.

4. All of the characters have acted well. Aya's so pitiful but she's so kawaii nonetheless, I pity Aya so much.

5. I love Asou-kun(Nishikido Ryo). Ryo acting as Asou is the best role for him. It suited him well. I'm crying whenever he cries. I always imagined Ryo as the "Asou" kind of guy. I guess I'm liking Ryo, haha.

6. Though 1LoT is full of crying, there are still funny parts. One of my most loved character is Aya's dad. He's so funny. HAHA (makes watching it less dramatic)

7. I think I love everything about the story, though I already know what will happen in the end, I've still cried.

8. This has made my eyes hurt badly. I have difficulty keeping my eyes open.

9. The part where in they show the true Aya has made me cry also.

10. If you want to cry nonstop, watch this okay? If ever you would not cry, I think there is something wrong with you.

I couldn't add more, I'm still shocked and I'm not in the condition to think straight. Glad that I'm not that depressed before watching this or else I would have break down. hehe. I think I'll watch the SP some other time, I couldn't tolerate myself crying again, and I think I'll take a break from watching heavy dramas. But this is a must see.

[EDITED - 04/30/08]

Yatta, I've watched the SP, though it's more on the fashbacks, but I still cry (thoug a little this time)

Last word: Ryo/Asou, you just have to cry, and you know what? I'll cry too. I've noticed that Ryo chan's eyes are so expressive. :D

Nodame Cantabile

Posted on April 12, 2008HAHA. This series is so funny. I've totally enjoyed Nodame Cantabile. Even though before I've found orchestra's boring and I'm not even an inch interested in Classical Music but through watching this, I've seen these things in a new light.

Synopsis

Just a little background of the story for you.

This series revolves around students studying at Momogaoka College of Music. Nodame (Ueno Juri) is a piano student at this school, she's a very talented pianist but she dreams to become a kindergarten teacher someday. However, she's kind of stubborn, she isn't that serious in playing, she only do what she likes, and aside from that she is a messy type of gal, she seldom takes a bath, and she lives in a house of trash. hehe

Meanwhile, Chiaki Shinichi (Tamaki Hiroshi) is Momogaoka's top student, he plays the piano and the violin. He dreams to be a conductor someday. Things got more exciting after Chiaki and Nodame's accidental meeting. :D

Reasons to Watch This/My Review

1. You're in for a laughtrip, every episode's so so funny, especially their facial expressions.

2. The Music used are great. Even though you aren't a fan of Mozart, Beethoven and the like, you'll learn to appreciate it more.
3. Nodame's so kawaii and funny. HAHA. I love her, she's so adorable, I'm moved by her character.

4. Chiaki's one hell of a musician, I'm a fan of his, he's such a genius. Plus Tamaki's acting is great. I wouldn't have imagined him making those facial expressions. HAHAHA

5. There are no boring parts.

6. All the characters are lovable.

7. You've got to know stuff about musicians.

8. The drama's touching, I've cried at some parts.

9. Makes one aspire to become a musician (well it worked for me)

10. The piano part is awesome.

There are still a lot more, but I'll leave it to you, just watch it okay? For music lovers, try this. :) I'm gonna watch the SP soon (will watch One Litre of Tears first)

Never Ending Wonderful Story (Concert)

Posted on April 9, 2008
This is the first concert of NewS that I've watched. Due to Yamapi's power over me, I'm finding myself engrossed in everything that he's into. BTW, I would like to thank my sis, jhocel(eunjae) for giving me the link to this concert.

First Impression on NewS:

I'm not that familiar with NewS, all I know is that Yamapi's in it, and before I've watched this, I've researched a little about them. And also, I've only heard a few songs but I like it so it's one of the reasons why I've watched this.

Reactions while watching:

The concert's great plus the behind the scenes footages where so funny. Even though I've heard most of the songs in it for the first time, I think I'm liking it, and with regards to the flying stunt, I was shocked. I think Ryo's the first one to do that, and when I've seen it I was so perplexed, I was like "He's flying", wahaha. So dumb of me.

Here are some of the things that I've noticed and felt:

1. For me Tego's the best singer in the band. I don't know, but his voice is so great.

2. Ryo's the best dresser in the group, I like his fashion get ups, or is it because anything that Ryo wears looks good on him?

3. I have a hard time figuring who's Tego and who's Massu. I have only mastered it after I think an hour of watching it, and I even look through my files just to check it out.

4. Their costumes are weird. hehe. But I know it's a part of being in JE.

5. Most of the time, I'm staring on Ryo's face. LOL

6. I love how the group treats each other. ^^

7. Koyama + Shige = terrible laughing madness.

8. Massu's got the brightest/warmest smile ever, his smile is so genuine and i think it can cheer up anyone around

9. Ryo's a brat and he's evil, but I like it. HAHA

10. I think I'm liking NewS. :D

11. I still like Yamapi, next would be Ryo, and then Tegoshi.

Parts that have left me Laughing:

1. When a fan ask Ryo for a kiss, and then Ryo has said this funny things and then he gave her a flying kiss, OMG, my heart's beating rather fast after that part

2. The part where in Koyama and Shige were in their room, and the they have turned it into a dancing hall, singing Massu's song and Yamapi's Daite Senorita, that was so funny, I have to catch my breath. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

here's the screen caps of it, plus Yamapi's bday celebration:

3. When some of the members were singing "Yeah, Yeah" at the top of their lungs, and then it hit me that their imitating Ryo's song "Code".

4. The part where in they showed the footages where in the group is eating, and then Ryo (evil, haha) keeps on feeding Shige, wahaha. And also the part where in Tegoshi keeps on saying "Oishii", and then Yamapi follows right after, and finally Ryo does it too. WAHAHA.

The concert's nice, you'll get to love NewS more. :D I've made some screen caps but I'm too lazy to post it in here, you know where to find them. Just in case, feel free to comment. - chay

Proposal Daisakusen SP

Posted on April 7, 2008

After almost 2 weeks of waiting for the subs to come out, I’ve finally watch Pro Dai’s SP, and I’m glad and crying. Sheez, I’m always crying. Why is it that I’m always crying everytime I watch Yamapi on a series, I think that shows how much I love him acting, and how effective his character is on me.

Synopsis

Okay, so I am not going to spoil everyone about what happened in the SP, I’ll just say the basic facts, facts that you can see on search engines.

Picking up from where the series ended, it’s been almost a year since the incident in the church happened (for those who have watched, you should know what I’m talking about, for those who haven’t, just watch the series first okay? ^^). But Rei and Ken’s relationship hasn’t progressed that much. Putting that aside, everyone is busy preparing for Tsuru and Eri’s wedding (in Hawaii), but then on the wedding day itself, Eri didn’t show up. Now it’s up to Ken to help fix his friend’s planned wedding. Will he use his “hallelujah chance” and will he and Rei finally have a proper ending??
Spoiler stops here. I have to hold myself to not blurt out the whole story. But I’m so tempted. Haha. :D

My Review

The SP’s so good. Really great. As I’ve said I have cried again, and is still crying. Damn, this is so beautiful. I am so touched at every scene, and one of the reasons on why I have cried is because of Tsuru, this guy is so nice, even though he’s not that good looking but I gotta give him the praise, he’s the man!.

Again, the story doesn’t only revolve on the two main characters, but the friendship of Ken Zou with his friends. I can’t talk much because there isn’t more to say, but I am a fan of Ken’s efforts in this Special. This story has made me cry, laugh and blush.

This drama’s ending is nice. Perfect ending, though I hope I have a glimpse of their w******. Plus, Hawaii’s so beautiful, such a romantic place. I especially like the thing about the shoes, haha, Ken’s so loveable, isn’t he?

MY NOTE: OMG, I'm too lazy to put the scans in here, if you would like to view my complete review, just go to my multiply page, click here.

Kurosagi

Posted on April 3, 2008
At last, after almost two months of watching this I have officialy finished this series. It isn't because I don't love this that it took me this long, but rather it is my LOVE for Kurosagi that has done this. Okay, I've first watch its first episode on Feb. 13 this year(I can still remember), but I've always passed finishing it, because I want to watch this when I'm free, so maybe that's the reason why I've watched Nobuta and ProDai first.

Synopsis:
Kurosaki (Yamapi) is a young man whose family has been murdered by his own father, the reason for such is because of his father being swindled. Despite that, Kurosaki has grown to be a con artist, swindling others of his kind and then returning the money to the victims. In the process, he works for the greatest swindler of all time, Katsuragi though the latter is somehow involve in the destruction of his family. Primarily, Kurosaki works for the man to finally have his revenge on him, however before he does that, he needs to face the other persons involve in his family's death. Kurosagi's life seemed to change with the arrival of Yoshikawa Tsurara (Maki), a student who dreams to be a prosecutor some day...

My Review
I've been busy reading people's thought on the series on different forums, however that has made me disappointed. I kept on reading stuff that they don't really like this, yes, they have watched but it isn't that great. I'm somewhat angered by this, though I have to respect their opinion. FOR ME, this is the best series of Yamapi so far.

The Swindling
Kurosagi isn't a story about romance and the kind. It's more of the action type, as the title suggests it's about Swindling. That's maybe the reason why I like this so much, its story reminds me of Detective Conan and Lupin. That even though you haven't watched it from the start, you'll surely catch up. It also has no boring parts, I'm always anticipating every case that Kurosaki handles, and how he'll pull the trick.

I admit that although sometimes I'm at a lost in some episodes because the Swindling world is foreign to me, but one can learn a lot of lessons in here. One can learn to be cautious of trusting people when it comes to business.
The Casts
Yamashita Tomohisa as Kurosaki

Though people have said that he isn't that believable of a swindler, his portrayal of his character has been superb. Maybe I'm a little biased here (since I'm a fan of his) but I can't see someone who'll be able to pull this character. Mind you, I'm not even his fan when I've first watch this. People are saying that he isn't that reliable because he's not serious, blah blah. They have said this because in most part of the series he's acting childishly just like his character in Nobuta, but then it has worked in a good way, he's so funny when he shows his "akira side", wouldn't it be too boring if the actor is way too serious? Plus he is so hot in these series, omg, and I wouldn't mind always seeing him in his red suspenders.

Horikita Maki as Tsurara
I'm going to admit that I'm so so irritated with her character in this series, she's always getting into Kurosagi's affair, always nagging him, a pain in the neck as one would say, I've only liked her towards the end of the story and I pity her. I liked her more in Hana Kimi. But one can't deny the chemistry between her and Yamapi, OMG, I think I'm going to faint everytime I see them together, bad thing there are only limited sweet scenes between them, but I would like to see them together. Oh please. YAMAKI ^^ I especially like the "fireworks" scene, and the times where in Yamapi would call her Yoshida. I wish I am Maki.

Other Characters

Arrgh, actually I would only want to comment on one character - YUKARI. I hate her, she's a pain in the a**. URGGHHH, her character's so dense, grrrrrrr. It's all her fault. hmp.

The story over-all
Like I've said it's my favorite Yamapi series so far. I love all the things about it. I love it when Yamapi disguises himself, so kawaii! And also the song's so addicting. "Daite Daite Daite Senorita, Tsuyoku Tsuyoku.... HEHE, enough of that. I strongly recommend it to you, but if you're not into the action type maybe you should pass. But this is so loveable, isn't it obvious?

Again, I have cried at the end, Kurosaki's so pitiful, especially when he was a*r****d. Sheez, I'm always crying because of his series. Anyway, the end's more of a cliffhanger, maybe that's why they have made a movie. I'm so looking forward to watching it. Definitely a must see.

Proposal Daisakusen

Posted on March 20, 2008
"Hallelujah Chance
Currently on Yamapi craze. I was trying to continue watching Kurosagi but then I decided that I should first try Proposal Daisakusen. Originally, I only intended to watch the first episode, but then after watching its pilot episode, my roommate urged me to continue, and so we ended up watching till the second episode, and since I have a so many exams the following day, we stopped.

That night we decided that we would finish the series the following night. And so it came, we (my roommate, Joanna, Hannie and myself), armed with lots of chips and juices, started watching it at around 8:30 pm and eventually we ended at 4 am. It’s definitely a marathon, all through out the course of time we were munching, crying, reacting and the sort. And here goes my review of the series.

Synopsis
Iwase Ken(Yamashita Tomohisa) and Yoshida Rei (Nagasawa Masami) have been good friends since primary school. Ken has been harboring feelings for Rei since then but he’s just too shy to admit it to her. And so the episode started with a wedding scene, Rei and Tada-sensei’s wedding ceremony. As Ken watches Rei being married to Tada instead of him, he regrets all of the things that he’s done in the past. He wished that he could go back in time to fix all of the errors that he’s done and to be able to confess his feelings for Rei – if only he’d done that maybe things wouldn’t end up this way.

And so the wedding continues, they have shown a slide show of Rei’s life. This too has made Ken feel miserable. But then a “church fairy” appeared in front of him and offered him the chance to go back into the past, the trick is that he can only go back to the time where in the current photo of the slide is taken, and of course he should be in the photo. And he was able to travel back in time, but changing one’s fate isn’t that easy, and so Ken will have to face many obstacles ahead – some of them he was able to overcome but some are failures. In the end, will Ken be able to propose to Rei, and would that change everything?

My Review

We have cried bucket of tears watching this series, it is not a dramatic one but there are just points in the series that one can’t help but cry. We were all crying, it first started when Rei’s grandfather visited her. Then we find ourselves crying towards the last few episodes. Ken’s character is so pitiful, though he is at fault, I can’t put myself to blame him, but there are instances where in I’m so annoyed at his lack of confidence.

Despite the drama, Proposal Daisakusen is a romantic comedy, not only does it focus on Ken’s struggle to change his fate but it also shows the friendship that existed between the characters in the story. And as every slide is focused, one can get a moral lesson out of it. There are a lot of things to learn from, some are inspiring, and some are heart breaking.
The expressions that Yamapi used are so funny. Especially when he does his thing - the “Hallelujah Chance”, it reminds me of him in Nobuta Wo Produce. However, as the show progresses, the Hallelujah thing (the song, not yamapi’s) kinda get on my nerves, haha.
The greatest thing that I’ve discovered in watching this series is how effective and great Yamapi’s crying is. I think that’s the biggest factor on why we cried our hearts out in watching this. I am convinced that Yamapi is the best actor that I’ve seen crying. I cried a lot when he did during the church scene. You couldn’t be not touched by that scene.

Nobuta Wo Produce

Posted on February 17, 2008
First Yamapi series that I’ve watched. I was looking forward to watch this way way back, and during that time, I didn’t know yamapi yet. Good thing that a friend of mine has a dvd of this, so I was spared from buying it.

The story revolved around three people, two guys and a girl. Shuji (kame) is this popular male student, who gets along with everyone, then there is this guy, Akira (yamapi), who is the exact opposite of Shuji, hmmm, Akira for me can be defined as this childish, happy go lucky/loner kind of guy. The catch is Akira always stick to Shuji’s side which annoys Shuji ‘coz it is totally ‘uncool’ to be seen with Akira. The story started with the arrival of Nobuko, a very weird girl (as in a super weirdo, mysterious, etc.), and since she is weird, she gets bully often. To cut the story short, Shuji and Akira sort of has this goal to produce Nobuko, they want to make Nobuko the most popular girl in school. I wouldn’t elaborate more, just watch it.

If you’re expecting that this is a romantic series, you’re definitely mistaken. Friendship is the most evident theme in this one. Friendship prevailed over love. It’s refreshing to watch this series. During the first few episodes I find the story ordinary, but as it neared its end, I understand why people loved this series. It gets exciting as the story develops. But it would be better if there’s some touch of love in it. I love to see Nobuko (Nobuta) and Akira together. But it’s impossible. Moving on, I was expecting that after I’ve seen this, I’ll be hooked with Yamapi, but as it turns out, he hasn’t bloomed yet in NWP, though you can see his looks improving all through out the show, he’s cutest in the last few episodes. But I love his character in here, he’s so funny, especially when he does his “kon thing” and the bumping. Love him more in Kurosagi (drools), even equaled my affection to Toma kun. Nobuta’s okay too, Maki’s cute when she makes this “Nobuta Power enter” sign. And About Kame, I love him more in Gokusen. A good series but it isn’t my favorite.

Green Forest

Posted on February 2, 2008

Sabi ko sa new year’s resolution ko, I would temporarily stop sa pag mamarathon ko ng mga series. I tried, but I failed. It turns out na adiksyon ko na ‘to.

Then one sunday, while I was watching television, saktong siya yung nag aair, and from the looks of it, parang kasstart pa lang ng story. And just like the other cases, na attract na naman ako sa story.

And one thing more, nandun din si Ethan Ruan, been hearing his name dati pa, friends niya kasi si Mike and Joe, and he’s cute. About the lead actress, Esther’s beautiful, she looks so innocent, basta yun na yun.

Story. Siguro sanayan na rin yung pagwawatch ng mga ganitong shows, everybody has his/her own taste, meron sigurong nacocornyhan dito. Attention getter kasi yung first few episodes niya, you would yearn for more, sa kalagitnaan parang medyo nakakapagod na yung story, pero go pa din. Maraming funny at kilig parts.

JA!

Spring Waltz

Posted on December 30, 2007

I think one way to attract viewers to watch a show is a good Promotional Video. When I mean good, the gist of the story should be presented in a nice manner, plus it should be accompanied with a good song. Why a good song? It’s because it’s the thing that attracts a person’s attention – well it worked for me.

Spring Waltz has always been on my list of to-watch asian series, but it only remained that way for I am hesitating, I’m not that certain if the plot’s good. I don’t want to risk my money for such. Then I’ve gotten feedbacks on how good it is, but it still didn’t urge me to watch it. One day when I was channel surfing, there’s this commercial, from the looks of it it’s a kdrama – Spring Waltz, then after watching the CM, this line (from the song used) keeps popping in my mind “And I Love You So x infinity" , the song’s really great and the video’s good. It’s an addition that they mentioned that some of the scenes were taken from Austria. [and Daniel Henney’s there]

And so, I’ve watched its Pilot Episode on ABS, you don’t have to guess what happened next, I was hooked, I was thinking, “I’ve got to buy this.” Another day passed, and still I haven’t bought the copy, I was still watching it in ABS, and I’m growing impatient, gusto ko na talaga siyang panuorin ng tuloy tuloy. Maybe that’s the reason why I don’t watch asian series on television – I don’t want my attention to be sustained. Two days after, I’ve gotten my copy. YAY, and now, I’ve just finished marathoning it.

Spring Waltz is the last installment of the Endless Love series. I’ve watched almost all of it, except for Summer Scent (only watched the first epi, din’t like it). Winter Sonata and Autumn Tale are my fave, though I’ve really cried a lot on the latter. As of now, Spring Waltz is also a fave of mine.

My review:

Story
Overall, the story’s beautiful. My favorite would be from episodes 1 – 11. My addiction may be rooted from watching its pilot episode, it’s an attention getter, believe me. Austria’s magnificent, such a nice location for a nice story, and poof, you’ve got an excellent show. LOL

Actors

First time kong mapanood yung dalawang lead. As for Daniel and Lee So Yeon, I’ve watched some of their dramas.

And bagay talaga sila ni Eun Young.

Philip (Daniel Henney) – what more can I say?

Ina (Lee So Yeon) – first watched her sa Super Rookie, as usual kontrabida na naman. HAHA. But second most hated ko lang siya sa series, pinaka hate ko yung nanay ni Jae Ha, sobrang nakakaasar.

Till here na lang. This review’s so long (got carried away). :D

Snow Queen

Posted December 26, 2007

I’ve just finished watching this series. Yes it’s a Korean series and not Andersen’s Snow Queen fairy tale. Actually it was just when I’ve purchased this series that I’ve known the existence of such a fairytale. The story pretty much included details from the tale, but since I haven’t read the book yet, I’m as clueless as you may possibly think. All I know is that the Snow Queen’s heart is made of ice (not literally), and I think that it has some connection with the lead actress in the series (perhaps she’s like the snow queen???). But don’t get mistaken as to thinking that this series follows Andersen’s tale (I can’t explain..)

If you’re not so into the heavy type of drama (i.e. Endless Love, Stairway to Heaven, etc.), then don’t watch this. If you don’t want to witness a tragic ending, don’t watch this. But if you’re a Hyun Bin fanatic, you should definitely see this. If you’ve already watch Kim Sam Soon, you would know that the Hyun Bin in Snow Queen is way way different from it. If in KSS he is this happy go lucky guy, in SQ he is this person who carries the burden of the world, his role is so mature, that I was impressed of how well Bin acted, I’m still in awe that he can really act to that intense. The truth is, I wasn’t ready to see him in such a miser role, but since he’s Bin, I know you know what I mean.
The story revolved with Tae Woong’s (Bin) best friend’s unexpected death. Since before his death, the two quarreled, Tae Woong put all the blame to himself, to the extent that he dropped out from High School, left home and started to live a new life as a boxer under a new name. I really hate this part, because you know Tae Woong is a genius, I mean he’s so so bright, he has won this international math Olympiad, and therefore he has beaten his also genius best friend, the rest is history.

The story is a little bit complex because of Bo Ra (the girl whom Tae Woong loves), I wouldn’t elaborate much. I pity Tae Woong all through out, for he has experienced all the problems that the world has to offer (I’m a bit exaggerating). It breaks my heart watching him suffer. Honestly speaking, there are boring parts, especially at the middle, but it didn’t affect my interest in watching this. The story’s okay, the ending has brought me tears, but I somehow find the ending lacking, I was expecting more tears (from myself).

I’ve watched this with my bro, it’s pretty amusing how he managed to sit through those long hours watching Snow Queen (we stayed up to 3 am for two days), to add up, not so many men watched Koreanovelas. I was really happy that he appreciated it, and I’ll leave it up to you if you decided to give Snow Queen a try. ^^

Boku Wa Imouto Ni Koi o Suru (I Love My Younger Sister)

Posted on December 26, 2007

From the moment I’ve heard that Jun will be doing this film, I was excited to watch this. Even though my friends told me that the story’s sort of odd and disgusting (sorry for the term), I’ve just replied that this only proves that Jun is really a good actor, for he can handle such a role.

The story is about Yori and Iku and their forbidden love. Forbidden because they are twins. After learning this, I didn’t find myself disgusted. However, while I was watching it, I found out that I can’t bear to watch it, for I have a brother, and to think that that kind of relationship exists, it freaks me out. Ewwwww.. haha.

The movie is boring (gomen, gomen). It’s a slow one, believe me. I’m just fast forwarding it to the important scenes. And the thing that helped me from watching it till the end is my admiration for MatsuJun. I’ve liked him since I first laid eyes on him on Gokusen 1, and till now, it’s still the same. If you’re Jun’s fan I know you could still watch this (just like me).

Lastly I liked its OST, it’s nice.

Hanazakari no Kimitachi e

Posted on December 26, 2007

I’m familiar with its story since I’ve already watched the TW version of this. I tell you, don’t expect that the story would be exactly the same, the Jap Version strongly adhered to the manga. Just like Hanadan and MG.

Confession no. 1: The first reason for me watching this is because of OguShun, I’ve also liked him in Gokusen, GTO and especially in Hanadan. It’s good to know that he will be the lead in this one. So while I was waiting for my first look in HnKe, I was like “OguShun, OguShun, OguShun!!!!”

Confession no. 2: There were only two Japanese actors that I’ve seriously liked, MatsuJun and OguShun, however, that was before I’ve watched this series. Now there are three, MatsuJun, OguShun and Ikuta Toma.

Confession no. 3: After watching the TW version, there is no doubt that Quan is the perfect guy(Sano), so before watching Hnke, I only have Sano in my eyes. After watching it, there is still one guy, but it isn’t Sano now, it’s Nakatsu Shuichi.

Here's my review:

I think that both the TW and Jap. Version has its good points, but I’ll focus on the strong points of the Jap version (sorry if I’ll be comparing both versions).

First, the three leads, hmmmm, I think that Shun, Maki and Toma are the most perfect actors to portray the roles. They surely complement each other. No one is above the other, so it’s truly great.

Second, the series doesn’t only focus on the relationship between Sano and Mizuki, it’s not only about love, but it’s about friendship, trust and hope.

Third, the story is fast paced, but although it is, one can still grasp the story better. And in a way it creates no boring parts. All episodes are enjoyable.

Fourth, almost all of the casts have good exposures. It doesn’t only concern the brewing love triangle of Sano-Mizuki-Nakatsu and Sano’s problem about his high jumping, but it never fails to include the scene between the three dorms, whether it’s a contest, an event or a panty stealing case, always expect that Dorms 1, 2, and 3 will give you a laugh. Maybe, it’s one of my favorite parts in this series. I always love to see Tennouji, Nanba and Himejima [see above pic] (together with their respective co dormers) battling each other with their different personalities.

Fifth, the biggest revelation to me here is Nakatsu Shuichi. I’ve always thought of him as this crazy, immature and laughable guy. It may be attributed to Jiro’s (TW version) portrayal of him. But after watching the first episode of Hnke, I realized that there is depth in his character. For the first time, I’ve seen a different side of Nakatsu. And as the story progresses, I find myself admiring him, especially the part when he is starting to like Mizuki. Ikuta Toma, surely knows how to act, no wonder he won best supporting role in this drama. Don’t get me wrong, Nakatsu is still Nakatsu, he’s still crazy, esp. when he talks to his self, so kawaii.

Sixth, Before I’m a strong admirer of Sano-Mizuki, but now, I’m more into Nakatsu-Shuichi. Lol. Seriously, the director has made the right decision in casting Toma for the role. Now, Sano has finally met a note worthy rival. And in a way, the fans will be torn between the two. Whether Sano or Nakatsu, I really can’t tell because Shun and Toma are so DARN HOT. Unlike in the TW version where in you would definitely root for Chun (hey wu zun is so gorgeous).

Lastly, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e’s ending is the best. Best because, even if there is no sequel to it, I’m totally fine with it, for it has completely satisfied me. All problems have been resolve, and all the students are happy. What more could you ask for? Though it would be better if there is a SP where it shows the residents of Dorms 1, 2, and 3 flying over to California. :)

I still have a lot of appraisal for this, but the space won’t be enough. All I want to say is that I’m thankful that I’ve watched this, because if not, how can I discover Ikuta Toma (seen him first in HYD 2)? LOL. >=) and of course the rest of them???

Why Why Love / Huan Huan Ai

Posted on December 24, 2007

After months of waiting, I've finally gotten my copy of Why Why Love, this review should be long overdue, but since my pc crashed (ugh), I didn't have the time to post this.

Thoughts on WWL:

Mike He is super duper hot in here. His looks has definitely improve since Devil Beside You though I much prefer Ahmon over Huo Da. Rainie's acting has also been good.

WWL is sort of like a reunion of the leads in DBY, if you've watched DBY you could see the similarities in the story line. Mike's still a devil and Rainie's his subordinate, while Kingone is her knight in shining armor. WWL has kept me laughing at all episodes. However towards the last few episodes, one could see the gravity of the plot, I've cried, yes, maybe it's because of Mike's character. He Jun Xiang has definitely improved.

I recommend this series to you, not just bec. I'm Mike's no. 1 fan (lol), but because it's worth spending your time. I would rate this an eleven (out of ten stars). ^^ (though i love DBY more) I do really love Mike and Rainie's tandem. Hope they could make more projects in the future.

The Beast and the Beauty/He Was Cool/Seducing Mr. Perfect

Posted on December 2, 2007

Since medyo nabore ako kagabi, I’ve watched three Korean movies straight.

The Beast and the Beauty – I watched this kasi recommended ni Joanna, maganda daw yung story. BTW, I think Hae Joo is played by the girl who stars in A Love To Kill (opposite Rain).

He Was Cool – I really enjoyed this one. Ji Eun Sung (bad boy) was played by Johnny, yung nasa Endless Love 1. Unang impression ko nung pinapanood ito is sana iba na lang yung guy for the role, kasi parang di talaga bagay sa kanya, pero nung lumaon ayos na rin. As for the girl, medyo familiar yung mukha niya (siya ba yung bida sa Attic Cat?).

Seducing Mr. Perfect – Daniel Henney. The reason I’ve watched this is because of him. The thing is puro English ang sinasabi ni Daniel all throughout, I was thinking, nagkakaintindihan kaya talaga sila, nakakaintindi ba talaga ng Korean si Daniel or what, kasi sa KSS di din siya nag Ko-korean. Over all, must see pa din ang movie na ito, that’s all I can say.

Generalizations after watching these movies:

Mga di mawawalang scenes sa Korean movies and series:

♦ Lead actors showing off their body
♦ Karaoke singing
♦ Inuman time
♦ Nalasing si girl and then binuhat siya ni guy
♦ Almost all of the time ay CEO or mayaman si bidang guy

Memories Of Bali

Posted on November 11, 2007

LOL

Again, di ko na naman napanood ito nung pinalabas sa ABS a few years back, kasi parang di ko type ang story at tsaka yun ata yung time na di talaga ako mahilig manood ng mga primetime shows (just like KSS). So dahil sa may hangover pa ako sa movie na The Classic at kay Jo In Sung na rin, pinanood ko ‘to. But before that basa muna ako siempre ng summary nito.

I would prefer Jo In Sung (haha). Pero we couldn’t put all the blame on her. And for that masasabi kong okay na din para kay Ha Ji Won yung role, pero di talaga maiiwasan na kainisan mo yung character niya.

One thing na napansin ko dito ay yung story, nung una light pa lang siya, may pagkacomedy ba, pero as the story thickens, nagiging dark na. Para tuloy ayaw mo na panoorin, the only thing that made me continue it is because of In Sung pati na rin si So Ji Sup (minsan), kaabang abang talaga sila. I would rate this siguro an 8 (out of ten).

No offense, kahit like ko si Insung, di talaga maiwasang di mapansin yun.

My Lovely Sam Soon/My Name is Kim Sam Soon

Posted on November 2, 2007

I’ve watched a few episodes, and nagenjoy ako.

After about a year (or more), napagisipan ko ng bilhin ang series na ‘to. Di naman nakapagsisisi, kasi sobrang ganda and sobrang nakakatawa, trust me. Typical yung story na nainlove ang isang rich guy sa isang commoner but the only difference is si Sam Soon, ‘coz she’s fat. This is the first series na napanood ko na fat yung bida, plus ang kakaiba pa, di tinry ng mga writers na papayatin yung character niya. Very inspiring yung story lalo na sa mga chubby girls, kasi kahit mataba ka di pa rin naman katapusan ng mundo, you could still find the man for you, at malay mo he’ll turn out to be just the same as the one Sam Soon’s got.

My fav. Scene would probably be nung birthday ni Sam Soon nung umakyat siya sa bundok (or hill?). Nakakatouch. ^^ BTW, same writers pala nagsulat ng Foxy Lady and KSS (no wonder).
